The symbolic cycle of
horses
is year-round and this is why these
fabulous
creatures shine
rich in lore
and myth,
sparkling with the
deep power of
might,
magic and
bravery. Man has no
greater friend and ally, for the
horse has been
responsible for the spread
of civilisation from ages past and
long forgotten to our present time.
Horses
have been associated both with
burial
rights and giving birth,
individuals of lore
riding into and out of the world, seated upon
these elegant
creatures of passion.

Odin, the
Allfather from the sparkling
Norse
mythos rides upon an eight-legged steed named
Sleipnir (the slipper). Sleipnir, who is grey in
colour, is the child of
Loki and
Svašilfari, and
is described as the best of all horses, and is
ridden to the location of Hel.
In Hervarar saga ok Heišreks, the poem
Heišreks
gįtur contains a riddle that mentions
Sleipnir
and Odin;

36. Gestumblindi said:
“Who are the twain,
that on ten feet run?
three eyes they have,
but only one tail.
Alright guess now
this riddle, Heithrek!”
Heithrek said:
“Good is thy riddle, Gestumblindi,
and guessed it is:
that is Odin riding on Sleipnir.” |

In the serene Hindu tradition, the chariot of
Surya, the
Sun god is pulled by stallions, as is
the chariot of
Apollo in the magnificent
Greek
mythos.

In Chinese astrology the horse is associated
with appeal and
persuasiveness. Horse people are
friendly,
adventurous and
emotional. Horses have
always been strong symbols of freedom.

Horses have served humanity in
travel,
war,
agriculture and all other major areas of life,
particularly friendship. The horse has
merged
the world closer together and has a
special
magic around them, pertaining to
closeness.

“The horse
enabled people to explore and find freedom
from the constraints of their own
communities. This enabled them to travel and
thus discover the multiplicity of life and
all of its powers. Horses have great appeal
to most people. We are fascinated by them,
and riding one raises us above the mundane,
and renews our sense of power. Riding horses
has been likened to flying by more than one
poet through the ages. They signify the wind
and even the foam of the sea.”
- Ted Andrews (Animal
Speak) |

Horses have
powers
of divination. More than one legend speaks of
the clairvoyance of horses and their
ability to
recognize those involved in
magic. They are
symbols that can express the
magical side of
humans.

The
Trojan Horse
is a tale from the Trojan War about the
subterfuge that the Greeks used to enter the
city of Troy and win the war. The Greeks
constructed a huge wooden horse, and hid a
select force of men inside. The Greeks pretended
to sail away, and the Trojans
pulled the horse
into their city as a victory trophy. That night
the Greek force crept out of the horse and
opened the gates for the rest of the Greek army,
which had sailed back under cover of night. The
Greeks entered and destroyed the city of Troy,
decisively ending the war. This shows how
powerful the horse truly is.
Horses also serve
a variety of functions in agriculture such as
riding,
ploughing and
pulling and continue to
help mankind in this manner.

The symbolism of
the horse signifies movement,
travel and
particularly sexual desires. The
stallion is
often used as a symbol of sexuality. The taming
of the stallion is akin to taming sexuality and
more dangerous emotions. The
Rocky movies with
Sylvester Stallone echo this concept perfectly!

When the
marvellous Horse appears in your
Life, it is
time to examine aspects of travel and
freedom
within your life.
Are you feeling
constricted?
Do you need to move on or allow others to move

in new areas?
Are you doing what you can to assist
civilisation?
Are you honouring what civilisation has given
you?

The
power and
might of the
Horse brings
new journeys and will
teach you to ride into new directions to
awaken
and discover your
own freedom and
power. Enjoy
this brilliance of
new awakening in your Life,

feel the fresh
wind in your hair, the
eternity of the horizon
sparkling bright as your journey takes you to
new found adventures!
